SANS Training Class
Monday, June 19, 2006 at 02:19PM So I'm back from Tech Ed, and have gone straight to a SANS training class - it's the "Track 1" Security Essentials course that <%Employer%> has brought on-site for the week. (You know that Monday's going to hit me hard, right? "What do you mean I have to get work done?!?!?!?")
Day One: Networking Essentials. I'm unfortunately yawning a bit at this point, since it's the whole "Let's talk about what a LAN is. Let's talk about what a WAN is. Let's talk about the OSI model." thing that I could do in my sleep. Tonight is the "lab" portion of the event where I get to start tearing into tcpdump and ethereal, which is the part that I'm looking forward to. But for now, Longhorn Beta 2 is loading in a VM while I'm pseudo-listening to "TCP and UDP live at Layer 4 of the OSI model" in the background.
