Preparing for an unpleasant conversation tomorrow.
Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at 08:59PM So as of Monday, my absentee ballot for the 11/4 General Election had not arrived.
Called the office of the Philadelphia Election Board.
"Well, Ms. Hunter, I see we mailed it to you on 10/21."
"I see. It's 10/27, are you really comfortable telling me that it takes a week for a single piece of mail to go a mile and a half in this city?"
She didn't have much of an answer for me beyond "I'm sure it'll show up."
...fast-forward to today, still no ballot.
Which means that I need to walk down to Philadelphia City Hall and raise all manner of holy hell tomorrow, as I refuse to be disenfranchised by the raving incompetence of Philadelphia city workers.
This won't be fun, I predict.
Laura E. Hunter
Well, once I got the correct office on the phone it actually ended up being a pretty simple process.
Walked in, handed them my ID, they gave me a room to fill out my ballot, I handed it in.
So I got to vote for 2008. Laura is now pleased.
