“Geneva” Beta 2 and Windows Server 2008 R2
Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 09:50PM Blogging it so that I don’t forget again, since I’ve now wasted my time fighting this the last three times I’ve wanted to stand up a new STS.
Geneva Beta 2 + W2K8 R2 == It no workie, full stop.
Installation fails with the following error in the debug log:
“
CAQuietExec: RegAsm : error RA0000 : An error occurred while writing the registration information to the registry. You must have administrative credentials to perform this task. Contact your system administrator for assistance
CAQuietExec: Error 0x80070064: Command line returned an error.
CAQuietExec: Error 0x80070064: CAQuietExec Failed
CustomAction RegisterSystemManagementInstrumentation returned actual error code 1603 (note this may not be 100% accurate if translation happened inside sandbox)
“
PG indicates support for R2 is a milestone that will be hit subsequent to Beta 2.
Tip from the ADFS Kitteh, who is here to help you people. (And to commit this to blog—term memory and thus keep herself from continuing to forget this little tidbit.)
Oh yes, and that "you must have administrative credentials" bit in the debug log?
It's not a UAC problem.
Seriously, it's not. Don't waste 30 minutes chasing it down thinking that it is. It's a red herring, and will only cost you 30 minutes of your life that you won't get back.
