The Iron Fist of PKI strikes again

Does anyone know if the default path length constraint on a 2008 CA is set to ‘0’? Or did I just lose an hour of my life getting bitten by a (most assuredly well-meaning but) misinformed CAPolicy.inf change? I’ll build a fresh box and repro when I’m not sitting on hotel wireless and post back, as this is officially bothering me.

(And thank you BK for mentioning this little gem to me once like a year ago, or I would’ve lost far more than an hour of my life chasing it down.)
